All coal passing through the terminal is sampled during inloading and outloading by automatic sampling plants that take samples at regular intervals in accordance with ASTM and ISO standards.

The sampling plants are operated by PT Sucofindo, the Indonesian affiliate of SGS International SA which also operates the onsite laboratory where all samples are tested for proximate analysis, ash analysis and ash fusion temperature.

The inloading and outloading conveyor systems are also equipped with metal detectors and tramp iron magnets to eliminate tramp metal contamination from the coal.
